Are We Saved by Faith Alone?

Dear Brother Ron

Are we saved by faith alone, or do we need works, too? Aren't works just evidence for salvation and cannot save us? If works could really save then are we saying we can earn our salvation and are sharing glory with God? If you say faith and works what do you do with this verse?

And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work Romans 11:6

We are saved by the grace of God. But if we truly love God, we will do His work and live as He would have us live. By doing so, we convince others of God's love and encourage them to join us in worship and service to Him. A big part of the reason for the miracles of Yeshua was to convince people of the truth of His gospel.

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

John 10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. John 10:38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

In my lifetime, I have heard a lot of people say things that proved to be less than truthful. So I don't really pay a lot of attention to what people say. I pay attention to what they do. If I claim to be a follower of a certain religious mentor, I should do what He told me to do. The followers of Jesus were called disciples. The word disciple comes from the same Latin as the word discipline. Contrary to popular belief, discipline has nothing to do with punishment. It means you do things the same way every time. The disciples of Jesus followed His teachings every minute of every day. That's how we know they were truly disciples.

So you are correct when you say that works are evidence of your faith. You are saved by faith but your works are a demonstration of that faith.

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Keep your faith alive by doing the work our Father sent you here to do.
