Casting Pearls Before Swine Dear Brother Ron What does it mean when Jesus tells us not to cast our pearls before swine? A85 Dear A85 It comes from Matthew 7:6-Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. Jesus is talking here about trying to counsel those who are steadfast in their evil. He is talking about those who are so committed to a life of sin and lust that if you try to show them the right way, they will take it as an insult and attack you. Jesus compares such people to dogs and swine. Personally, I avoid making such comparisons. I believe God made each of us for a purpose. That includes the criminal and the reprobate. We may not understand what that purpose is but our Father does. You might compare this to the old adage, "Never try to teach a pig to sing. It only wastes your time and it annoys the pig." Best always Brother Ron |
