The Gates of Heaven Copyright 2003 Ron Barnes Sax and marimba intro A lot of people said if I would follow them, That they would teach me all the ways that I could win. They said if I would do exactly what they say, That I could be a winner just like them some day. They said the secret, and I had to learn it well, To get to Heaven, you have got to go through Hell. Cause that's the only way to the gates of Heaven. So I decided if I had that much to gain, It would be worth it to endure a little pain. If I could be a big important, wealthy man, That I would follow and conform to the plan. But all I found as I cheated and I lied, And traded money for my dignity and pride, It never got me close to the gates of Heaven. So I decided I would make another choice. I started listening to my Father's voice. He led me straight to what I was looking for. So now I'm walking in the steps that Jesus trod. And every day brings me new riches from my God. He gives me peace and joy and love abundantly. And I see heaven's gates opening for me. There is no doubt about where my path will lead. And I have everything that I could ever need. And I am on the road to the gates of Heaven. MARIMBA SOLO There is no need for me to use dishonesty. The truth of God is there for everyone to see. And it will be the same for forever more. Now that I have no need for lying or deceit, I look into the eyes of everyone I meet. My steps are sure and my heart is filled with pride. Because I know the Lord is walking by my side. And I am sure that when my life on earth is o'er. He will be waiting and I'll find an open door. 'Cause now I know the way to the gates of Heaven. My Father will lead me to the gates of Heaven. Yes I have found the way to the gates of Heaven.
