If Jesus Came Back Today Dear Brother Ron For most of his adult life, Jesus was homeless. He traveled from place to place, teaching his lessons, and looking for the goodness in people. The self-righteous crucified Jesus. I believe that if Jesus came today, the Bible thumpers would lead the cry, "Give Us Barrabas" for they do not understand the love that Jesus possessed. Chris Dear Chris You bring up an interesting point. If Jesus came back today, not with blaring trumpets and angels announcing His arrival, but as a simple carpenter from the heartland, what would He think of what we have made of Him? How would he react to televangelists, Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny? Would He admire the large golden crosses which adorn the necks of many ministers? Would He marvel at the palaces we have created to worship Him? Would He play Bingo? And how would we receive Him? I recently went to a local church to offer my services. They refused to listen to my music unless I submitted a portfolio. They refused to discuss my housing program and outreach program until I sub- mitted a resume and they checked my references with my pastor. Would Jesus survive such scrutiny? We seem to have lost the message by placing too much attention on the messenger. Best always Brother Ron |
