Judgment Without Knowledge

Dear Brother Ron

What does it mean to judge a matter without knowledge? As a Christian, if you judge a matter poorly without knowledge of the situation, should you apologize?

Themommy

Dear themommy

Absolutely. Prejudice means pre-judging without knowledge or understanding. We all have prejudices. I, for example, hate boiled okra and collard greens. The difference is that my prejudice hurts nobody. Enough people like and buy these foods that even the farmers and food processors are not bothered by my prejudices.

When it comes to people, however, prejudice can be very harmful. Not only does it hurt the target of your prejudice, in the end, it hurts you. When the truth is revealed, the culprit feels like a fool and has lost all credibility. So prejudice is a no-win situation.

Best always
Brother Ron
