Leningrad and Aleppo Codices

Dear Brother Ron

Are there differences between the Leningrad and the Aleppo codices? If so, what are the differences? Is there any place online that lists all (or at least some of) the variations? Also, why would the Leningrad vary from the Aleppo?

Heron

Dear Heron

Some claim that the Aleppo codex is the most accurate since it is much older (826 CE) than the Leningrad codex (1008 CE). Unfortunately, the Aleppo codex is incomplete. It was damaged in a fire during riots in Damascus.

A complete and visually accurate version of the Aleppo Codex can be found at http://www.aleppocodex.org. A useful electronic publication of the Leningrad Codex was recently published on the web at http://www.cvkimball.com/Tanach/Tanach.x...

You can find the Wikipedia article on the Aleppo codex at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleppo_Codex. The Leningrad codex is discussed at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leningrad_Codex .

Hope this helps.

Best always
Brother Ron
