My Father's Father Copyright 2003 Ron Barnes When I was young, my father held my hand To help me cross the street. When I would fall, he would pick me up And put me back on my feet. He always knew the right words to say When I was feeling sad. And whenever I would have a bad day, I knew I could talk to my Dad. My father left us many years ago To join his Father above. I miss his voice and I miss his smile. I miss the warmth of his love. But whenever my woes and cares Get the best of me, My father's Father is always there And He still watches over me. My father's Father still holds my hand And guides me safely through the day When I am troubled, He shows me His plan And helps me find my way. My father's Father still cares for me. He knows the way I should go. He will always be there for me. And there's one thing I know. My father's Father is always near. His love to me He has shown. I see His face and His voice I hear, Saying, "Son, you are never alone". INSTRUMENTAL My father's Father once had a Son. I know His love for me Is the same that He had for the One Who showed us how to be free Of the fear of death and pain. Who sits with Him on the throne. And on the day that I see Him again, He'll say, "Son, you are welcome home". My father's Father is a father to All of us, you and I. My father's Father is the Father who Has a love that never will die. |
