"Passion of the Christ" Special

Dear Brother Ron

What did you all think of the Peter Jennings special on the movie "Passion of the Christ"? I thought that they really downplayed Christ's divinity. They called it "the Jesus movement". Sometimes he suggested that the Apostle Paul taught contrary to Christ's and Biblical teaching. I didn't think much of the show, and wrote to Peter Jennings and ABC and told them so.

Dear William

ABC's goal was not to advocate the divinity of Christ but to counter charges that the movie blames the Jews for His crucifixion. If they had placed more emphasis on His divinity, there would have been a strong reaction from Jewish and Muslim groups.

Personally, I thought the show did a good job of documenting the historical validity of Jesus and His sacrifice. It's always good to have supporting testimony from third parties whose objective findings verify the testimony of religious authorities.

Best always
