Why Am I Responsible for Adam and Eve?

Dear Brother Ron

Why am I responsible for the sin of Adam and Eve? No one would think it fair to send me to jail for something my great grandmother did. I think we can all agree on this; it is against our common sense of justice.

Please, a simple explanation that actually addresses the question. Why? Why am I treated as though I ate the apple when I didn't, wasn't there, and in fact HATE apples?

HaileysMom

Dear HaileysMom

You are not responsible for anybody's conduct but your own. The apple story was created for two purposes. First, it is part of the Christian marketing approach that you are an evil sinner in need of salvation. If you did not need salvation, the whole idea of somebody dying for your sins makes no sense. First you create the need, then you offer a solution. It's a very effective marketing strategy.

And second, the story forms the basis for women being subservient to men. Since women are prone to temptation, they need the strong arm of a man to control their impestuous desires and whims. It may not be true but it worked for the men in control of the church.

Best always
Brother Ron
