Why Does God Choose to Be Unseen?

Dear Brother Ron

Why does God choose to be unseen by people? Would following him without "blind" faith devalue our sincerity? I say "choose to" because as an omnipotent being, God can do anything.

Why would God want to be followed "blindly" as opposed to simply followed? To reveal himself wouldn't be forcing us to believe, follow, or praise him (it wouldn't deny us free will).

You can point to the beauty of this world as God making his presence known (like Romans 1:20). However, if his intention was to make his presence known, why use an indirect way (especially if he wants there to be "no excuse" for non-believers)?

Anonibus

Dear Anonibus

Because God exists in a reality beyond our concept of space and time. Take a piece of paper and draw a picture of a person. If the picture was alive, you would be God. You created it. But since the picture's reality is a piece of paper, the picture can not see or hear you. The person you created is two-dimensional. You are three-dimensional. You live in a reality beyond the picture's ability to comprehend or communicate.

The picture may believe there is something more out there, but since you can not be seen or heard by it, it has to be a matter of "blind" faith. It's the same with us. Our perceptions and understanding are limited by the three-dimensional reality in which we exist. God has no such limitations. He lives and rules in a reality of infinite dimensions. Since we can not enter His reality, we'll just have to take His word for it.

Best always

Brother Ron
