Why Do Women Have To Obey?

Dear Brother Ron

If women are not inferior, why do we have shut up and obey? Many people quote the scriptures to argue that women are inferior. The verses they quote actually say that  women must keep silent and obey. Why?

Molly

Dear Molly

In the ancient Hebrew society, the man was the unquestioned head of the family. His word was law. Women were considered little more than walking incubators for the husband's children. Their opinions were neither respected nor considered.

You will notice in the Old Testament and in the book of Matthew, the lineages were given as men begetting men. Unless biology has changed a lot since then, I strongly suspect there were some women involved in the process. Their contribution was obviously not worth mentioning.

My wife and I have a completely different relationship. We are two different people who join together to make something better than both of us. She is strong where I am weak and vice versa. When we first got serious about each other, I told her, "I don't want to walk on you and I'm not strong enough to carry you but I would be proud to walk through life with you at my side."

It has worked for us for over twenty years.

Best always
Brother Ron
